TAVI Clinical Support (Operating Room)
In my current role as clinical support for the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVI) program in our hospital, I am responsible for providing direct safe patient care, acting as a clinical resource for multi-disciplinary teams, and orienting new staff to TAVI procedures. I work under the direction of and in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, Patient Care Coordinator (PCC), and Advanced Practice Nurse Educator (APNE). I also liaise with the operating room Cardiovascular PCC and/or inventory staff to maintain TAVI supplies and logistics. I am fully trained and certified in prepping the transcatheter aortic valves (Edwards Sapien 3 and Sapien Ultra, Medtronic EvolutR, Evolut Pro, Evolut Pro+, and EvolutFX).

Staff Registered Nurse - Operating Room
As a staff in the operating room, I scrub and circulate for cardiac surgeries [aorto-coronary bypass grafting (CABG), Valve (aortic, mitral, pulmonary) surgeries, TAVI procedures (transfemoral, trans-subclavian and transcarotid approaches), Type A or B dissections, Ross and Bentall procedures, LVAD Heartmate III insertions, thoraco-Abdominal repairs, Maze procedures, Pacemaker insertion and extraction with or without Laser, heart transplant, etc.]. I also have experience in other services including thoracic, otolaryngology, vascular, gynecology, urology, general surgery, transplants and plastics from my previous work in a trauma hospital. Recently, I am the acting Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) for vascular and cardiac surgery team whenever the PCC is off work. I also team lead in the Minimally Invasive Cardiac surgery program.
During the height of COVID-19, I was part of the Emergency Response Intubation Team (ERIT) in my hospital. The team is responsible in intubating suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients throughout Toronto General Hospital.

As a casual staff nurse in the spinal rehabilitation facility from 2011 to 2015, I was responsible for providing direct patient care, intermittent catheterization, wound care and assisting patients in their activities of daily living.
On the other hand, as a member of the Nursing Resource Team (NRT), I have experience in providing nursing care in various services including, but not limited to, medical-surgical, palliative, gerontology, respiratory, nephrology, oncology, medicine and etc. I worked in the NRT from 2011 to 2012.

Completed my Bachelor's degree in Nursing, with a focus on patient-centered care and evidence-based practice. I graduated from my baccalaureate degree originally in the Philippines and pursued the equivalent degree post-diploma baccalaureate program in Toronto when my family migrated to Canada in 2006. During my studies, I gained clinical experience in various healthcare settings, including medical-surgical, pediatrics, perioperative, community nursing and mental health.
